Helping children to be ready to learn is a training package for all mainstream schools in Cambridgeshire. The training aims to give schools an understanding of what an optimum learning environment is and how to reduce disruption in the classroom and playground. It also provides an understanding of how to help children focus and be ready to learn.

Schools can book onto face to face training or watch a self-led workshop with an online question and answer session.

Self-led training

Face to face

Schools can book a face to face training session at your school. Schools may wish to partner with another school. The workshop will primarily focus on sensory differences and regulation strategies for a whole school or whole class approach.

The interactive workshop is 90 minutes. It is open to all teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs and support staff at the school. Each workshop will be limited to 25 attendees.

All participants will receive a workbook which is sent to the school. Before the workshop participants will also be sent some resources which will be useful to review before the session. After the workshop participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Before attending your face to face training session, please ensure you download your workbook.

If you have any specific dates reserved for staff training, you can contact us at ccs.sensoryworkshop@nhs.net, and we will try to accommodate your request.

Schools can watch a live recording of a workshop and then book onto an online question and answer session.

The question and answer session, run by an occupational therapist, will be held over Microsoft Teams and last for about 1 hour.

Before watching the self-led training, please ensure you download your workbook.

When booking the online question and answer session, if you have any specific dates reserved for staff training, you can contact us at ccs.sensoryworkshop@nhs.net, and we will try to accommodate your request.
